The tables glittered with diamantes whilst awaiting the guests to arrive. The trumpets and drums shined as the band prepared for a night of musical marvel. The DJ was ready to compare in his best suit. The stage was set ready for a night we wouldn’t soon forget.
On the 16th July we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a charity masquerade ball in aid of Cancer Research UK. We had a wonderful 20-piece swing band (Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats), with two singers at the helm, who played a variety of classic swing. As the band came to a close they played the famous “New York, New York” and the dance floor flooded with willing guests ready to raise a leg with their friends and sing along. The atmosphere was of pure elation.
Soon enough the guests were queuing up for a delicious hot buffet that included homemade quiches, succulent kebabs and not to mention a helping of scrumptious cake! Details of our wonderful venue, Davyhulme Park Golf Club, are here. The photographer arrived soon after and snapped the night away.
Once the band had gone and the DJ had the floor it was time to get down to some real partying. At one point the DJ had each table compete in a dancing competition to win a bottle of wine! Congratulations go to the very coordinated table who won! Soon there were boys v’s girls dance offs and to top it all off we had a guest volunteer to perform karaoke and boy was she talented!
Throughout the night we were selling raffle tickets, guests could also have a go at winning a cash prize with our money belt game. One lady came away with a whopping £145 but generously donated some of it to the charity. The raffle was filled with fabulous prizes ranging from photo shoots to fruit baskets.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our event whether that be a guest, a sponsor, donor, volunteer or in any other capacity. We raised over £2,600 and that wouldn’t have been possible without you! We want to say a huge thank you to our charity division COS & Friends for organising the event with us.
