1). We’re boring
Just because we enjoy crunching numbers and love accounting software doesn’t mean we’re a bit on the dull side. We can assure you that underneath that cool exterior we are bags of fun and full of personality. From actors and archers to guitarists and fun-runners, our bookkeepers have a range of exciting hidden talents.
2.) We do the same job as an Accountant
Bookkeeping and Accountancy run side-by-side but they are not the same. Imagine for a moment you are baking a cake: we put the ingredients together and then hand it to the Accountants who bake it and put the decoration on. We work hand-in-hand to create organised books and accurate accounts. Without the ingredients the Accountants can’t bake the cake.
3.) We’re old fashioned
As COS we are the opposite of old fashioned! We believe that the days of hand-written accounts and excel spreadsheets are well over. We love cloud accounting and so we love to shout about Xero, Sage One and FreeAgent. We’re always encouraging our bookkeepers, clients and partners to keep filling their brains with software knowledge.
4.) We have an easy job
Imagine having to untangle 50 strings of Christmas lights then having to solve a rubix cube in under 2 minutes. Often our job can feel much like this. We spend a lot of our time solving complex problems; fixing mistakes that can cost thousands if not solved quickly; and well basically making the impossible happen. We are like the foot soldiers of finance.
5.) We don’t work with small businesses
We have a varied client base from one-man bands to multi-million pound companies. Every business has to do bookkeeping. That is why we offer a range of options to clients, dependant on their needs or size. Some of our bookkeepers have been placed in full time roles because of a growing need for their services. Others may go in to clients on a weekly or monthly basis because they simply don’t have as many transactions or only want a consultant to check their books.
